Product page hero with a particle cloud

A software company's opening shot, where the product itself is alive.

Heavy · GPU experiment: it only starts on a click, so it doesn't load your machine for nothing.

Move the mouse over the page: the cloud follows. Press and hold: it pulls in. The brand and the figures are illustrative samples.

The landing page of a software product. The cloud sits behind, the headline and buttons in front: the cursor pushes the particles aside, and pressing pulls them in. Made for a page where the first impression is the product.

Under the hood
  • WebGL 2
  • GPGPU
  • Hero

How it works

The hero's background is a GPU simulation that scales to a million particles, but the page's text and buttons are plain HTML, so the content is there at once and the cloud starts after it. A dark, translucent band keeps the headline readable, and the cloud doesn't run when it isn't on screen.

It works as an opening shot because it isn't an image: the visitor can play with it straight away, and that shows the company can do fine, fast motion. It is a heavy one, so it starts on a click, and if the machine can't keep up, quality drops by itself. The same runs with fewer particles on a phone.
